Five Family-Friendly Getaways in Southern England

Families looking for getaways that will neither break the bank nor stress them out have plenty of options in southern England. Wherever travellers choose to go, Travelodge hotels are nearby.

Dover is a great place to spend a weekend. The castle is vast and an entire day can be spent exploring every corner. Families can save the famous White Cliffs for the next day. Start the day with a boat tour and see what the cliffs look like from the water. Hike along the tops of the cliffs, admire the amazing view across the English Channel. Take time to pack a picnic lunch before going; the clifftops make for an amazing picnic spot.

New Forest is a lovely area for families. The area is spotted with charming villages to explore, each of which has lots of independent shops. There are countless spots to pull off to the side of the road and start hiking through the woods. The forests in this area are absolutely beautiful, and there are any number of places to have a picnic alongside a bubbling brook. New Forest is also home to the Beaulieu National Motor Museum, one of the top attractions in the south.

Cornwall is the perfect place for a beach holiday. Postcard-worthy fishing villages dot the coastline and seafood fans will be in heaven.

Brighton makes for a great getaway. Sunbathe on the beach, or enjoy walking along the waterfront. Have some fun on the famous Brighton Pier, or explore the Royal Pavilion. The Sea Life Centre is the oldest working aquarium in the world.

Windsor is home not only to the Queen, but also Legoland. Windsor Castle is in many ways more impressive than Buckingham Palace. The village itself is very charming. Legoland is nothing short of a blast.
